The Issue / Problem
Woolmer Hill Secondary School required the replacement of ageing windows and failed glazing systems across multiple buildings. The existing frames and glazing had deteriorated over time, leading to heat loss, reduced internal comfort, and a façade that no longer met modern performance or aesthetic standards.
Instruction to proceed was received less than three weeks prior to mobilisation, with all works programmed for completion during the school holidays. During removal of the existing façade systems, hidden defects and unforeseen constraints were identified, requiring responsive management and programme control.
Acting as Principal Contractor, we ensured full compliance with CDM Regulations while coordinating multiple trades within a live educational setting in preparation for the new academic term.

The Outcome
The project delivered a complete transformation to a modern aluminium glazing system across multiple school buildings.
The new façade significantly improved visual consistency and appearance, while enhanced thermal efficiency increased comfort within teaching spaces. The durable, low-maintenance system provides long-term value and performance for the school.
All works were completed smoothly and safely during the school holidays, ensuring the buildings were fully prepared for staff and students to return, with zero disruption to term-time operations.
Our Solution
We delivered a comprehensive façade upgrade designed to improve performance, safety and long-term durability, including:
