Repairs and component replacements
We carry out repair and replacement work across windows, doors, locks and glazing. Depending on the product and job, this can include:
- Replacement or adjustment of locks, handles, hinges, cylinders, restrictors and other window or door hardware
- Replacement of failed or damaged sealed glass units and glazing
- Door and window adjustments where components are not operating correctly
- Replacement of gaskets, seals and selected ancillary components where appropriate
- Timber repairs and restoration
- Garage door component repairs or replacement
- Further remedial work where an Evander workmanship issue or valid product warranty claim has been confirmed
Care and maintenance
Regular care helps products continue to operate correctly and may be a condition of the applicable warranty.
General aftercare
- uPVC, aluminium, garage doors and glass: clean using a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Remove grit or debris first and avoid abrasive or ammonia-based cleaners.
- Locks and hinges: lubricate annually using the product-appropriate lubricant.
- Cylinder locks: use graphite lubricant only. Avoid penetrating oils or general-purpose products such as WD-40 where these can attract dirt or affect the mechanism.
- Do not drill into frames, add non-approved fittings or allow third parties to alter the installation without first checking whether this could affect the warranty.
Timber windows & doors
- Wipe down joinery regularly to remove dirt, insects and pollutants.
- Clean weather seals and ventilators at least once a year.
- Lubricate hinges and handles annually with light machine oil.
- Clear nearby gutters and downpipes in autumn to reduce the risk of water damage.
- Inspect coatings and open joints each spring and touch up damage promptly.
- For redecoration, lightly prepare damaged areas and use a suitable high-quality water-based acrylic coating in appropriate dry conditions.
Products installed in particularly exposed coastal, mountainous or industrial environments may need more frequent inspection and maintenance. Always follow the relevant manufacturer care instructions where supplied.
We’re here if you need support
If you need help after your work has been completed, get in touch and we’ll guide you through the next steps. Tell us what’s happened, which product is affected and when you first noticed the issue. Photos can also be helpful. We’ll review the details of your job and any applicable warranty, then let you know the best way forward.
- We may be able to resolve some issues through advice without a visit.
- Where a product is within the applicable warranty and a visit is needed, the issue can be logged for remedial review.
- The next step may be advice, an inspection, a repair appointment, replacement parts or further technical/client approval.
- Where the issue is outside warranty or is not caused by Evander workmanship or a valid product warranty claim, any further work may be chargeable and will be agreed before work proceeds.
- If the property cannot be secured or the customer is locked out, the internal remedial process provides for same-day response arrangements.
For remedial visits, we’ll assess and record the issue and its likely cause, helping us identify the right next step and resolve it as efficiently as possible. What we’ll ask you for:
- Your order, job or invoice details where available
- The product or opening affected
- A clear description of the issue and when it started
- Whether the issue is intermittent
- Any safety or security concern
- Your preferred contact details and availability
- Photos, where these will help us assess the issue
