The Brief
National Highways identified the customer’s bungalow as being within a Noise Important Area (NIA).
Following an acoustic assessment, Evander’s Surveyor measured noise levels within the property, explained the scheme and identified the most appropriate intervention.
Noise levels in the bedroom were already 7dB below the eligibility threshold of 30dB. Rather than recommending unnecessary glazing works, the assessment identified a Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) system as a more appropriate solution for the property.
The solution also addressed the customer’s concerns around mould, damp and condensation.

The Outcome
A PIV unit was installed in the loft space to provide a continuous flow of clean air, reducing the need to open windows and helping to limit unwanted external noise.
The property-specific solution avoided unnecessary glazing replacement while supporting ventilation and improving the internal environment.
Following installation, the resident reported no further problems with mould on furniture or walls, no puddles of condensation from the windows and no longer needing to use a dehumidifier.

Project Overview
I am absolutely delighted with the installation and it has made a huge difference to the damp issues I was previously experiencing. Evander’s installation engineer carried out works in a professional and polite manner. The work area was left clean and tidy and they explained where and why the unit was being installed and how it worked. I am so happy that I was eligible for this initiative and it has made a big difference to my life.
