As a professional, nationwide company, we feel that it’s important to stay ahead of the curve. In order to ensure the great quality of our products and services, we feel it’s important to be accredited by a variety of industry competence schemes. Many of these are not compulsory, but we believe that the independent testing and high standards set by these outside influencers are not only important to give our customers peace of mind, but are also important to keep Evander moving forwards.
In order to keep these qualifications up to date, many industry regulators continue to test us in a variety of areas, from window installation to customer data handling. This is often done at our expense and if we fail to meet the high standards required, we can be stripped of our certifications. In order to reassure our existing and potential customers that we’re fully competent and that we’re keeping up to date with rising standards, we have worked hard (and continue to work hard) to achieve the following:
Government Endorsed & Nationally Recognised Competence Schemes:
The FENSA scheme was set up in 2002 to ensure consumers could have confidence in the quality of work done when having double glazing, doors or roof lights installed within England and Wales. The rise of rogue builders prompted the Glass & Glazing Federation to set up the scheme, which has been hailed as ‘the most successful of all competent person schemes to date in the UK, across all industries.’
Evander are held to a code of conduct and our materials and workmanship are inspected regularly to ensure we are doing a good job. When you have work done by us which is covered by the FENSA scheme, we’ll provide you with a certificate which shows you have complied with thermal performance and Building Regulations guidelines.
The Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF)
As a member of the Glass & Glazing Federation – the industry’s most established trade body – Evander have to pass a variety of requirements and tests to ensure that we pass the comprehensive and strict Code of Practice, which you can access for free on the GGF consumer site, www.myglazing.com. In their own words, ‘By using a Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) Member Company, you are dealing with the elite companies in the industry – established, trusted companies, working to the highest professional standards and installing high quality products as well as guaranteeing you the unrivalled GGF Consumer protection.
We have achieved TrustMark status through FENSA (see above) for glazing and conservatory erecting. The standards that TrustMark set are very high. It’s a consumer-centric scheme, which gives you the opportunity to search the TrustMark website for approved traders (both whole companies and individuals) in your area.
In order to keep our TrustMark status, Evander has to prove that we’re not only employing a skilled and friendly workforce, but that we’re fully insured, that we have a good trading record and financial status, and that our customer care is second to none.
Secured by Design
Focussed on preventing crime in both residential and commercial properties, Secured by Design is an initiative run by the Association of Chief Police Officers. It sets standards for security on a number of our products, from the Garador Guardian range of garage doors to our full uPVC and Composite external door ranges. Many of our patio doors are also accredited under the scheme, which ensures products are designed and constructed with high security in mind.
National Quality Assurance Certifications:
NQA ISO 9001 – International Standard for Quality
These certificates from the National Quality Assurance scheme are important to show that we’re a leader in our industry. The NQA provides training and support for Evander as well as testing to see if we’re good enough to achieve the various certifications. This particular certificate – the 9001 – shows we have achieved an important general standard of quality. It covers things like customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, training, risk management etc.
NQA ISO 14001 – International Standard for Environmental Management
As the world changes and the environment becomes a vital consideration, we believe that it’s important we’re having as little impact on the planet as possible. We’ve achieved this ISO 14001 certificate through having a strong environmental policy, ensuring pollution prevention and managing where our resources come from. Corporate responsibility is high up on the list of attributes we need to keep this certificate, as is legal compliance. We take the environment seriously and believe this is an important certificate for all businesses to have, no matter what the industry.
NQA ISO 27001 – International Standard for Information Security
This particular certificate is the last of our NQA qualifications but is certainly not the least important. The 27001 covers our information technology and how we keep your details safe. In a world where cyber security risks are one of the most common threats to us as individuals, we think it’s paramount that we ensure our IT systems are safe and secure. This certificate includes training for all employees on how to keep data safe and how to protect digital assets, giving you confidence that we treat all aspects of IT with professionalism.
Health & Safety Accreditations and Awards:
RoSPA Gold Award 2014 & 2015
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have been upholding health & safety in the work place for nearly 100 years. Well known throughout the country as an authority on health & safety issues in a vast range of industries, their awards criteria are very strict. We are proud to have won a RoSPA Gold Award for two years running, and we hope to continue this success in the coming years.
IOSH – The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health
IOSH are the only Chartered body for health & safety practitioners. A world-leader in common sense health & safety competence, they certify individuals who are fully able to identify and neutralise risk within many industries. Our health, safety & improvement manager, Graham Calver, is a Chartered member, which means that he can train and distribute knowledge to all staff on a variety of health & safety issues. He works closely with all departments to make sure that we are always serving the public interest in a safe and controlled way.
Another health & safety certification, SAFE Contractor covers the whole of Evander as a business, rather than just one individual. SAFE Contractor reviews and audits our health & safety policies to ensure that we’re doing everything correctly and that we’re being compliant with all rules and regulations. When we work with other businesses or when we’re contracted by larger companies to do a certain job, this certification gives them peace of mind. It shows that we work to a high standard and that we’re fully aware of all laws and guidelines.
CHAS – Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme
CHAS work in much the same way as SAFE Contractor (see above), demonstrating to other companies that Evander are knowledgeable and tested to a high level in all aspects of health & safety. We are assessed on our policy surrounding safety, how organised we are and our specific health & safety arrangements. Evander must meet and exceed nationally recognised standards in order to achieve the CHAS certification. We’re tested regularly for all health & safety credentials, so you can be assured that we never let standards slip.
